Screen Printing Shellac 250gsm

The 5 Star Shellac is a traditional, universal sealer used for varnishing artwork and sealing screen printing projects, unfired clay, and plaster. Supplied as dry flakes, shellac is mixed with methylated spirits to create a versatile sealing solution. It does not dry clear and can be applied by brush or pad.

Mixing Instructions:

100g shellac + 400ml methylated spirits = 400ml solution

250g shellac + 1 litre methylated spirits = 1 litre solution

Leave mixture until thoroughly dissolved, stirring occasionally

Strain liquid into another container before use

Safety Precautions

Keep out of reach of children

Treat the mixed solution as a solvent

Dispose of residue in an approved manner

Do not leave cleaning rags unwashed as spontaneous combustion may occur

Rinse rags thoroughly in detergent and water and hang out to dry before re‑use
